How to Safely Prepare Heavy Appliances for Moving Day

By Warezone Relocations Team

Heavy appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers require special preparation before any move. Improper handling can damage the appliance, your home, or even injure someone. Our Warezone Relocations team handles heavy appliance moves every day — here's what you need to know.

Refrigerators

Defrost your refrigerator at least 24 hours before moving day. Remove all food, shelves, and drawers. Secure the doors with tape or rope. Keep upright during transport and wait 2–4 hours before plugging in at the new location.

Washing Machines & Dryers

Disconnect the water hoses and drain all remaining water. Use transit bolts to lock the drum if you still have them. If not, inform your Warezone team and we'll advise the safest approach.

Dishwashers

Run an empty cycle to drain all water. Disconnect the power, water supply, and drainage hose. Secure the door with moving tape.

Pro Tip: Never lay a refrigerator flat during transport unless it's a chest freezer. Compressor oil can damage the motor.

Air Conditioning Units

For split AC units, professional disconnection and reinstallation is required. Warezone Relocations can coordinate this with certified technicians.

Use Professional Equipment

Heavy appliances require proper dollies, straps, and protective padding. Our Warezone team comes fully equipped for safe, damage-free appliance relocation.
